Introduction to the Outstanding Student Leaders Election Scheme

　　As the new generation of Hong Kong, apart from pursuing academic achievements, it is also our responsibility to know and to care about our society. In the light of encouraging students to build up an understanding in social affairs and broaden their horizons, Hok Yau Club Student Guidance Centre has commenced the Outstanding Student Leaders Award in 2005. The objective of the scheme was also to acknowledge awardees’ achievements in leadership and the efforts they have devoted in their schools and in Hong Kong. Each year 20 outstanding young leaders are chosen as awardees, all of which are nominated by their schools and selected after series of interviews. Upon selection, awardees can attend a training camp on leadership and also an exchange trip to the Mainland China. These activities aim at furthering their leadership abilities as well as increasing their exposure. Through sharing given by Hong Kong’s outstanding social leaders, they can also enrich their life experience and at the same time enhance their understanding on social issues. After the prize presentation ceremony, awardees will work together to organize some social service programmes. In this way, sparks ignited by their leadership strength can therefore be passed on.
Thanks for the enormous support teachers and students have given us, Outstanding Student Leaders Election Scheme has been a great success and 40 awardees have been selected till now. In 2006, awardees altogether formed the Hok Yau Club Federation of Outstanding Student Leaders*, an affiliated organization of Hok Yau Club. It is our vision to unify the strength of outstanding student leaders to contribute towards the development of Hong Kong. It is also our belief that by putting our passion and leadership in every activity we organize, we can bring Hong Kong a more prosperous future.

*Awardees of each year’s Outstanding Student Leaders’ Election Scheme will automatically become the members of the Hok Yau Club Federation of Outstanding Student Leaders.
